How To Keep Bed Bugs Away

It has not been proven that sonic electronic devices are capable of running bed bugs away. Even so, it hasn’t stopped thousands of people from buying these devices in an attempt to keep them away. It has been reported that rubbing alcohol will kill bedbugs, but it must come in contact with them to be effective. There are many products which will kill bedbugs, but most must come in contact with the actual bug to be effective.

How Do You Get Bed Bugs in Your Home?

If you are a person that works in hospitality or pest control it is possible for you to bring them home. You can use precaution to ensure that this does not happen. If you are working in a high infestation it would be wise to carry a change of clothes. You may also want shoe covers to prevent eggs from getting into the cracks of your shoes. Be sure and place your dirty clothes in a sealed bag until you are able to take them home and heat them in the dryer. Tie up and throw away the empty bag. If working in the hospitality industry you should be sure that your establishment has a written protocol on steps to follow once an infestation has been identified.

If you travel frequently you should inspect your hotel bed and headboard for signs of bed bugs. You should also bring a large heavy duty draw string plastic bag with you when you travel. You can use the bag in two different ways. You can keep your luggage and personal belongings cinched up to prevent these pest from entering or if you think you may have come in contact with bed bugs you can place all items in the bag and seal it off until you are able to properly treat them. There are commercially available bed bug proof luggage encasements that may be used to protect your luggage. Mattress Safe makes one called Luggage Safe, but there are others which can be found online.
